Segno improves the bioclimatic concept of this residence by increasing the comfort of the indoor and outdoor spaces, yet elevating their aesthetics and optimizing their livability.
A refined contemporary house
The wall structures, the projecting roof and the terraces on the first floor protect the large windows on the south-facing façade from direct radiation and play the role of fixed sunshades. The search for the best balance between light and shadow is the basis of the dimensional relationships of the façade. Designed according to the rules of projective geometry, the massive volumes are enhanced by the dynamics of solar radiation: they favor maximum visual permeability between the indoors and the outdoors and regulate the entry of natural light in the living area on the ground floor as well as in the sleeping area on the first floor.
The passage between the house and the garden is mediated by a large pavement. The area in front of the living room is conceived as a solarium, without any protection, while the area next to the kitchen is screened by the Segno arm awning, characterized by harmonious shapes that optimize operations and simplify use.
When completely extended outwards, Segno significantly extends the shaded area to protect the warmest room of the house and to trigger natural ventilation. When not in use, the awning rolls up perfectly in the thin box which, thanks to its minimal design, integrates into the building envelope without altering its overall aspect.
