Aluminum Pergola

Advantages, Models and some Advice

A diamond is forever and a pergola? It depends on the material it is made of. An aluminum pergola is designed to last over time. Like a jewel, it is a real gift to give yourself, it’s perfect for creating new comfortable spaces in your home, with the certainty of a durable material that allows you to maintain modern and light aesthetic lines, a pergola is a real design product that will add value to your home.

Before starting to understand what are the benefits of choosing one material rather than another, a clarification is needed: aluminum pergolas have a structure (posts and crosspieces) in extruded and powder-coated aluminum, but they can have two types of roofs. The roof can be made either of aluminum blades or of a technical fabric resistant to UV rays and rain, which is packed thanks to aluminum intermediate section profiles. Both versions are motorized and controlled by the remote control or the application.

Pergolas usually range in size from 3×2, 3×3 to 5×3 meters, but they are always made to measure and are designed to enhance areas of the house that would otherwise be little used, such as gardens or terraces which are usually very exposed to the sun and bad weather. Unlike a simple gazebo, pergolas are structures designed to be very resistant, it is therefore important that they are made of excellent materials and have great aesthetics, so as to integrate perfectly into any architectural context and become almost an integral part of the house.

Aluminum for your outdoor structure

Outdoor structures and furnishing accessories are by their nature subject to wear and tear due to continuous exposure to atmospheric agents (sunrays, rain, wind, air pollution, etc.). This is why the choice of materials becomes crucial in these cases and can determine great differences in the good maintenance of the general conditions of the structure over time.

Choosing a pergola with an aluminum structure means obtaining these benefits:

Advantages
Durability

Aluminum retains its appearance and functionality over time and it remains almost unchanged even when subjected to the action of weather.

Maintenance

With regular annual maintenance, your aluminum pergola will last for decades, making it a real investment for life.

Customization

Aluminum is a material that allows you to design structures tailored to the millimeter of both small and large dimensions. Gibus uses extruded and powder-coated aluminum, making the pergolas always customizable in color, but also resistant over time.

Sustainability

Aluminum is a recycled and recyclable material and, as we have seen, long-lasting. It’s a material that we have also chosen for its limited environmental impact.

Modern and sophisticated design

Last but not least the possibility of having the best performance in terms of aesthetics and style!

Aluminum pergolas are available on the market both with aluminum blade roof and with a waterproof technical fabric roof that can be folded up.

When the pergolas have an aluminum blade roof they are defined as bioclimatic pergolas; in fact, thanks to the motorization, the blades can rotate and create the characteristic “brise-soleil” effect, which allows the hot air to move upwards and be replaced by cooler air, creating a real pleasant microclimate under the pergola.

This solution provides for the maximum flexibility in managing the light and ventilation conditions of the internal environment of the pergola.

Even the roof with retractable fabric in waterproof technical material provides for excellent performance in terms of protection and versatility.

4 models of aluminum pergolas

There are many types of aluminum pergolas on the market. We can mainly divide them into pergolas with waterproof fabric roofs that can be retracted or bioclimatic pergolas with adjustable or retractable aluminum blades.

Thanks to the tailor-made design according to the needs, it is also possible to choose between self-supporting pergolas or pergolas leaning against a load-bearing wall.

Here are some examples of models for each type!

Leaning sloped pergola

Leaning sloped pergolas are fixed to a wall so that they ensure minimum bulk and maximum continuity between the internal and external environment so that they create outdoor spaces which are an extension of the house itself. In the example we see Quadra, a versatile and accessorized stylish pergola.

90° free-standing pergola with retractable roof

Free-standing pergolas can be positioned anywhere. In this example we can see Zenit, a 90° pergola with blackout and waterproof PVC fabric, equipped with Click Zip side closures and light filtering fabrics.

Bioclimatic pergolas with retractable roof

The combination of technology and design offer maximum comfort. Velvet, the bioclimatic pergola with a roof with adjustable and foldable blades, meets the various desires of how to experience the outdoor space. Always made to measure, it is available in the leaning and self-supporting version; the Velvet+ version comes with integrated side closures.

Bioclimatic pergola with adjustable blades and photovoltaic panels

Here is an example where functionality combines with the care for the environment. Thanks to the possibility of adding photovoltaic panels to the blades, the Energy Pergola is able to produce the energy it needs for itself and, if the electrical system allows it, for the rest of the house.

These are just a few of the models available, all made to measure and customizable down to the smallest detail. Thanks to the support of your trusted Gibus Atelier, you will be able to create the perfect project and meet all your needs and desires!
