The owners of this private house were looking for a solution to provide shade on a portion of their large terrace, situated on the top floor of a luxury apartment block. The main requirement was to provide cover for an area where there is a large table, so as to be able to eat outside with protection from the sun during the day and humidity in the evening.
Given the shape of the terrace, the best solution was to use the walls to anchor three of the four fastening points of the sail. This left more free floor space, as only one stainless steel support mast was needed to attach the fourth corner. The sail is fully motorised and there is an anemometer that automatically retracts the sail, in just a few seconds, in the event of strong winds. The end result is stunning, especially in the evening, when the perimeter lighting "inflates" the sail with subtle and inviting colours. It's no secret that the Velenda Libre sail awning is nautically inspired, but this is the first time that it has actually made you feel as if you are standing on the deck of a boat.
